Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins.

This is the 1983 Harley Davidson Sportser as it was when I brought it home. It runs and rides okay but it's pretty tough to shift gears. Frankly, I hate the large tank and the mini-ape handlebars. Not a huge fan of the swingarm rear suspension either. I'm pretty sure that's going to be replaced with a weld-on hardtail section.

Goals for this bike so far:

  • Go over and assess all systems
    • Frame
    • Suspension
    • Brakes
    • Engine
    • Transmission
      • Repair shifting problems
    • Cosmetics
  • Change the gas tank
  • Change the handlebars
  • Install a weld-on tail section
  • Powder coat the frame and sheet metal. The color hasn't been chosen yet but I'm leaning toward a metal flake red or back to black.
In the next post, I will drain engine oil, primary oil, remove the primary cover, and more.
